Yadu Pokhrel
Dr. Pokhrel is an expert on climate and human-induced changes in the water cycle and their impacts on water, environmental, and social systems. His research focuses on improving the understanding of the changes in the water cycle due to combined effects of human activities and climate change. He uses climate, hydrological, agricultural, and ecological models to examine how changes in climate extremes (e.g., floods) affect water, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and livelihood systems. He combines models with satellite data to examine these impacts from global to local scales. He leads projects in many regions including the mid- and southwestern-US, Asia, Africa, and South America. His research is funded primarily by the NSF and NASA. He has published 100+ peer-reviewed articles and is an Associate Editor for Water Resources Research (WRR) and Journal of Hydrology. He is a recipient of many awards including the NSF Early CAREER Award and Fulbright US Senior Scholar Award.
