Liz Payton joined the WWA team in November 2018 to serve as coordinating lead author of the Colorado River Basin Climate and Hydrology State of the Science Report. Liz has an MS in Civil Engineering from CU and was a water resources engineer at Hydrosphere Resource Consultants for 16 years. She has worked on several projects involving system modeling of the Colorado River Basin, including one of the first studies of climate change impacts on hydrology and water allocation in the basin. Liz also served as the Wyoming State Engineer's technical expert in statistical hydrology in the NE v. WY North Platte River litigation in the jurisdiction of the US Supreme Court. She has edited and contributed to several large, multi-author reports for federal, state and local entities. Liz was a US Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal and has served her community on city boards and commissions including chairing the City of Boulder Planning Board.
