The Utah Streamflow Forecast and Hydrometeorlogical Tools Workshop: Using & Improving NWS online tools
Dixie Center, Saint George, UT, March 16th 2011 1 to 4pm
Overview
The goals of this workshop is to (1) create a hands on opportunity to learn about online NOAA/NWS resources for streamflow and hydrometeorology resources and (2) facilitate a dialogue between users and NOAA/NWS personnel that develop online tools. NOAA has extensive online capabilities for accessing and analyzing streamflow forecasts, water supply forecasts, peak flow forecasts, snow information, precipitation analysis, and weather forecasts. Sometimes this information is difficult to find or use. This workshop is designed to identify these situations and develop solutions through work with stakeholders.
Participants at this workshop will have the opportunity to hear about how streamflow forecasts are made, and will receive training in a computer lab setting on using the new and existing NOAA online resources. Participants will also be able to provide opinions and insight directly to the developers so the NOAA can improve the web-based tools. There will be exercises designed to glean further information from participants to help in the development and improvement of online resources. |
