"Coping with Climate Change:
A Symposium Highlighting Activities at the University of Colorado
to Help Decision Makers Prepare
for the Future"

FINAL REPORT

“Decision makers and other interested citizens need reliable science-based information to make informed judgments regarding policy and actions to address the risks and opportunities of variability and changes in climate and related systems.”  U.S. Global Change Research Program.

The University of Colorado is home to a wide array of scientific research on climate change, but are comparable efforts being undertaken to help society make better decisions about how to respond to climate change?

"Coping with Climate Change: A Symposium Highlighting Activities at the University of Colorado to Help Decision Makers Prepare for the Future," held April 4, 2006 at the University of Colorado, was intended to identify and highlight research and other activities at the University of Colorado designed to assist decision makers in responding to and coping with the coming impacts of climate change.  The symposium featured several half-hour presentations from faculty and students in various CU departments and programs about in progress or planned activities.  It provided an opportunity to learn about climate change-related ‘decision support’ activities at CU, identified gaps and constraints in current activities, and uncovered possibilities for future research and collaboration.
