2010 Climate Conference: Managing for Resiliency in the San Juan Mountains–Adaptation and Planning for Climate Change

Silverton, CO, October 7-9, 2010

This main goals of this meeting are (1) to assess existing and potential threats to the San Juan Mountains region posed by climate change, and (2) to develop strategies to plan for, adapt to, and reduce the effects of climate change on ecosystems and society. The 2010 Climate Conference program will include seminars, workshops, and field trips on topics such as ecosystem health, best protocols for impacts modeling, and adaptation frameworks and models.

REGISTRATION

To register, please go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Registration_Silverton. We encourage early registration as capacity is limited to 120 people. Online registration is FREE; however, a donation to MSI is suggested if you are not affiliated with the funders ($50 for non-profit or $100 for corporate/government) to help with the conference costs. Online registration will close on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 5 PM. To register after October 1, please email anneizard@gmail.com. A late registration fee of $25 will be charged.

Catered lunch on the conference dates is available for $10 per meal and must be reserved in advance with this form (pdf), which describes the vegetarian and non-vegetarian options for each day's lunch. CALL FOR POSTER ABSTRACTS

This is an open science poster session, however, we encourage abstracts focusing on research and topics relating to either (1) regional climate change adaptation in the San Juan Mountains, (2) general research relating to the San Juan Mountains region, or (3) general research relating to climate change in mountain areas. Examples of climate-based research topics include: carbon, water, precipitation, forest ecosystem health, adaptation models and frameworks, and community challenges and opportunities. All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the Mountain Studies Conference Committee. We encourage the submission of abstracts based on original research or innovations in practice.
